Overview

The Beckhoff EL2904 is a TwinSAFE digital output EtherCAT Terminal with four fail-safe 24 V DC outputs (0.5 A per channel). Controlled via TwinSAFE/Safety over EtherCAT (FSoE), it performs a fail-stop on detected errors and offers parameterizable safety functions including output current measurement and channel test. Standard outputs can be enabled and internally ANDed with the safe outputs to allow faster switching when a safe release is present.

Key Features

  • 4 safe outputs, 24 V DC, up to 0.5 A per channel
  • TwinSAFE/Safety over EtherCAT (FSoE) controlled; fail-stop behavior on error
  • Configurable safety parameters: current measurement, channel test, watchdog
  • Optional standard outputs available in the process image, ANDed with safe outputs
  • DIN rail, compact IP20 housing (24 × 100 × 68 mm)
  • Safety standards: DIN EN ISO 13849-1 (Cat. 4, PL e), EN 61508 (SIL 3)

Applications

  • Safety-related switching of actuators in EtherCAT systems
  • Machines requiring SIL 3 / PL e outputs with fast standard output mirroring
